Tattoo Aftercare
Your tattoo is an open wound for the first 2 weeks. How you care for it now decides how it heals forever.
FIRST FEW HOURS → FIRST TWO WEEKS
The Healing Window
Remove the bandage put on by your tattoo artist — with freshly cleaned hands.
Use antibacterial, non-scented soap to gently clean the tattoo once a day.
Pat dry with a non-linty towel — never rub.
Apply a light layer of healing ointment 3–4 times per day.
Hustle Butter Balm, a non-scented lotion, or a rejuvenating stick. A little goes a long way — too much suffocates the skin.
DO NOT scratch or pick at your tattoo while it is healing.
Leave the tattoo open without a bandage — unless you need to protect it.
Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds, and swimming pools, bathtubs, and hot tubs.
AFTER THE FIRST TWO WEEKS
Settling & Protecting
Continue to apply ointment 3–4 times per day.
For another two weeks, keep avoiding direct sunlight, tanning beds, and swimming pools, bathtubs, and hot tubs.
Going forward, use sunblock (SPF 50 or more) to keep your tattoo protected from the sun for life.
If something looks wrong
Always consult your tattoo artist and/or a physician if your tattoo becomes infected.
We’re here long after you leave the chair.
Recommended ointments — Hustle Butter Balm, a non-scented lotion, or a rejuvenating stick — are available in studio. Reach out any time during your heal.
